Stanhope Primary School and Education Awards in Ealing

Featuring Pearson National Teaching Awards and other honours for local schools

In a remarkable achievement, Hannah Widdison, headteacher at Stanhope Primary School in Greenford, has been honored as a Silver Winner for Headteacher of the Year in a Primary School at the Pearson National Teaching Awards. This recognition, announced on National Thank a Teacher Day, underscores her exceptional leadership and dedication to education.

Expressing her gratitude, Hannah emphasized that the award is a testament to the collective efforts of the entire Stanhope community. She highlighted the school's commitment to fostering inclusion, excellence, and social responsibility, aiming to build a sense of belonging and aspiration among students.

Under Hannah's guidance, Stanhope Primary has achieved significant milestones. The school holds the Inclusion Quality Mark Centre of Excellence status and was named Leadership Team of the Year at the National Schools Awards in 2025. Additionally, it has been shortlisted for multiple national awards, including Primary School of the Year in the Tes Awards. These accolades reflect the school's dedication to inclusion, achievement, and community impact.

The school's curriculum offers diverse opportunities, from learning Mandarin to participating in London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) festivals. Students also engage with the Primary Shakespeare Company and explore projects challenging gender stereotypes, enriching their educational experience.

Beyond the school, Hannah contributes as the AI Strategy Lead for the Ealing Learning Partnership, guiding ethical approaches to integrating artificial intelligence in education.

Deputy headteacher Kat Pietruszka praised Hannah's unwavering commitment to the school community, noting her relentless drive to create an environment where every child feels a strong sense of belonging and is able to thrive.

Councillor Blerina Hashani, the council’s cabinet member for a fairer start, extended congratulations, stating that Hannah's achievement reflects the dedication, care, and ambition evident in schools across the borough, highlighting the impact of strong leadership on children and families.

On National Thank a Teacher Day, Stanhope Primary celebrated with messages of appreciation from pupils and families, reinforcing the school's culture of kindness and belonging.

The Pearson National Teaching Awards, often referred to as the 'Oscars of education,' celebrate the impact of teachers and school leaders across the UK. Hannah is now in contention for a Gold Award, to be announced at a special ceremony in November.

In related news, Notting Hill & Ealing High School was named London’s Best Independent School at the Independent Schools of the Year Awards 2024, further highlighting the excellence in education within the Ealing borough.

These recognitions underscore the dedication and impact of educators in Ealing, inspiring the next generation and fostering a culture of excellence and inclusion.
