Hanwell Carnival makes long-awaited return in June

Hanwell Carnival returns to Elthorne Park on Saturday, 20 June 2026, promising a colorful celebration of community spirit following a year spent fundraising and planning.
Running from midday to 6 pm, the event—first held in 1898—remains a cornerstone of Hanwell’s summer life and one of London’s oldest traditions.
Support from The Charity of William Hobbayne, Ealing Council, and the Heathrow Community Trust secures its future for the next two years, even as rising costs have paused the traditional street parade.
Visitors can look forward to live music, dance, food stalls, a dog show, children’s rides, and an animal area with donkey rides and a petting zoo.
Bands like The Hanwell Ukulele Group and The Grim Face Marys will take to the stage for a lively atmosphere.

Book lovers in Ealing celebrated a record-breaking Ealing Book Festival this spring, as more than 3,400 visitors flocked to the five-day event.
Headlining authors like Anthony Horowitz, William Boyd, and Mary Portas drew enthusiastic crowds to the University of West London, where nearly 3,000 tickets were sold— a sharp rise from last year’s turnout.
The festival’s diverse programme featured 26 events, including a buzzing Local Authors’ Showcase with 20 Ealing-based writers, compered by local radio talent Jojo Silva.
The debut Family Day at Southall’s Dominion Centre brought in new energy, expanding the festival’s reach and strengthening community ties throughout the borough.

Ealing Council is inviting residents to volunteer as school governors, offering a rewarding way to strengthen the future of local young people.
