Ealing has no shortage of Italian food, but some of the most interesting choices aren't necessarily the restaurants appearing on every London “best of” list. This time we're mixing an established local favourite with smaller neighbourhood discoveries, taking us from Neapolitan pizza and homemade pasta to seafood and southern Italian flavours.
L'oro di Napoli — South Ealing
A proper taste of Naples in South Ealing, L'oro di Napoli puts pizza right at the heart of what it does. Alongside the pizzas you'll find focaccia, antipasti and fresh Italian-style salads, making this our established anchor for the journey. If you're looking for somewhere to begin exploring Ealing's Italian food scene, this is a natural starting point.
Sikulo — Northfields
Sikulo brings a distinctly Sicilian and southern Italian character to Northfields. Pizza is part of the attraction, but dishes such as arancini and aubergine parmigiana help take the experience beyond the usual neighbourhood pizzeria. It's the regional identity that makes Sikulo particularly interesting for our list and gives you another side of Italian cooking to discover.
Vita Mia Pizzeria — Ealing
Vita Mia Pizzeria is a smaller St Mary's Road discovery with traditional Neapolitan pizza at the centre of its menu. Look beyond the pizza and you'll also find aubergine parmigiana, homemade meatballs and a particularly tempting bruschetta combining burrata with truffle cream and ’nduja. It's a good example of the independent neighbourhood businesses we want Ealing Spotlight readers to uncover.
Madero — Northfields
Madero takes our journey in a slightly different direction by bringing Italian and Spanish influences together. Homemade pasta is a speciality, with choices including linguine with fresh clams and tagliatelle with king prawns, pistachio and basil pesto. Add tapas, seafood and meat dishes and you've got an interesting Northfields alternative when you want an Italian evening that goes beyond pizza.
Aroma Italian Restaurant — West Ealing
Aroma Italian Restaurant offers contemporary Italian dining with pizza, pasta, seafood, wine and cocktails. One dish that catches the eye is the linguine ai frutti di mare, combining king prawns, squid and mussels with chilli, garlic, cherry tomatoes and white wine. It's a particularly tempting West Ealing choice if seafood pasta sounds more appealing than another pizza night.
These aren't presented as the definitive five “best” Italian restaurants in Ealing. They're five places to discover — combining an established favourite with neighbourhood businesses that may give you somewhere new to try.
That's what Ealing Spotlight is about: looking beyond the businesses everybody already knows and helping you discover more of what's happening across the borough.
