As summer begins to wind down, Questors Theatre Ealing is looking ahead to an autumn and winter filled with live performance.

The Mattock Lane theatre is one of Ealing's best-known cultural institutions and stages a mixture of its own productions and performances from visiting companies.

The Questors says it normally stages 15–20 plays each year, ranging from contemporary dramas and comedies to British and international classics. Its facilities include the 350-seat Judi Dench Playhouse and the more intimate 90-seat Studio theatre.

Plenty to see in the months ahead

The current programme offers considerably more than traditional theatre.

September brings Bagz to Riches, starring Baga Chipz MBE, to the Playhouse on 5 September.

October includes The Phantom Raspberry Blower of Old London Town, alongside musical performance Not From a Musical. Families are also catered for during the Halloween period with The Spooktastic Halloween Show and Dame Dolly's Spooktacular Pirate Show.

In November, magician Kevin Quantum brings Anti-Gravity to the Playhouse on 12 November, combining science and magic in a show designed to challenge the sceptics. Later that month, Orwell – The Road to 1984 explores the experiences and writing that helped shape George Orwell's best-known work.

More than somewhere to watch a show

The Questors Theatre Ealing also offers opportunities for local people to become involved in theatre themselves.

Members can participate in acting, directing, lighting, stage design and front-of-house activities, while the organisation also operates the Questors Academy and Questors Youth Theatre.

From September, the theatre is also offering free backstage tours, giving visitors an opportunity to see its facilities, visit rehearsals and learn more about becoming involved. The tours are expected to run on most Wednesdays and require advance booking.

That community involvement is an important part of what makes The Questors different from simply being another entertainment venue.

As Ealing heads towards autumn, its forthcoming programme provides residents with another opportunity to enjoy theatre and live entertainment without having to head into the West End.
