Have you ever thought about using your language skills to help your community? A new interpreting opportunity from Learn Ealing
There is some wonderfully heartening news for anyone who cares about the future of Ealing's young people. The borough is actively looking for residents to step forward and volunteer as school governors — and it could not be simpler to find out more.
Ealing Council is hosting a free online information event on Thursday 11 June, running from 6:30pm to 7:30pm, where anyone curious about the role can discover what volunteering as a school governor genuinely involves. Governors work at a strategic level, supporting and challenging school leaders, helping to set priorities and ensuring resources are used as effectively as possible — all without getting involved in the day-to-day running of the school.
It is a role that clearly attracts people who are deeply rooted in their community. Stephanie Leane has been a governor at Springhallow School in West Ealing since April last year, and her experience reflects the personal meaning the role can hold for local families.
The borough's schools are well worth championing, too. An impressive 98% of Ealing's maintained schools are rated Good or Outstanding by Ofsted, with pupils consistently making exceptional progress from primary right through to secondary level.
Those who register can also find out about the training and support available to new governors. To learn more, email governors@ealing.gov.uk — and who knows, this could be the beginning of making a lasting difference to children right here on your doorstep. |
