A new addition to Pitshanger Lane's vibrant scene, Doreen's is set to open its doors on 12 June 2026, offering a unique blend of daytime tea room and evening wine bar.
Occupying the former site of a hairdresser, this establishment has secured approval from Ealing Council to serve alcohol and extend its operating hours.
On Fridays and Saturdays, patrons can enjoy the ambiance until 11pm, while on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, the venue will close at 5pm.
The menu boasts an array of offerings, including wine, Champagne, beers, and innovative "tea-themed cocktails," complemented by a selection of small plates.
Alcohol service will conclude at 10:30pm from Thursday to Sunday.
Despite the enthusiasm surrounding the opening, some local residents have expressed concerns.
Two individuals objected to the licensing of the rear outdoor space, citing potential risks to children and the possibility of public nuisance.
They highlighted the proximity of the outdoor area to residential gardens where children play, raising issues about exposure to adult language, drunken behavior, and smoke pollution.
To address these concerns, the outdoor garden will close at 5pm on Wednesdays and Sundays, and at 9pm on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
Notably, the Metropolitan Police did not object to the application.
Instead, they agreed upon 13 conditions with the premises to ensure compliance with licensing objectives.
These stipulations include the installation of a comprehensive CCTV system covering both interior and exterior areas, with footage stored for 31 days and readily accessible to police or council officers.
Additionally, the venue is required to maintain a refusals book to document any denied alcohol sales and an incident log to record crimes, ejections, complaints, disorder, and equipment faults.
Smoking will be prohibited in the garden area, with designated smoking permitted only at the front of the premises.
Signage will be displayed to encourage patrons to leave quietly, minimizing noise disturbances.
Furthermore, no glass, bottles, or open vessels are allowed outside the premises, and all staff must be trained to prevent serving alcohol to intoxicated or underage individuals.
In delivering the decision, Councillor Kim Kaur Nagpal acknowledged the concerns raised by the objectors but emphasized that the applicant had demonstrated relevant experience in managing licensed premises, instilling confidence in their ability to adhere to the licensing conditions.
As Pitshanger Lane continues to evolve, the introduction of Doreen's reflects the area's dynamic character.
Residents and visitors alike can look forward to a new spot that seamlessly transitions from a cozy tea room by day to a lively wine bar by night, enriching the local social landscape. |
