Thousands of quietly dedicated people across our borough received a moment of well-deserved recognition this month, when a special gathering at Perceval House in Ealing brought carers, local organisations and the council together to mark Carers Week 2026.
The event was organised by Ealing Carers Partnership and the Ealing Carers Hub — two brilliant local bodies working hard to make sure no carer feels alone. Carers Week is an annual UK-wide campaign shining a light on the extraordinary contribution unpaid carers make every day, and this year it ran from 8 to 14 June.
There are officially around 24,000 carers living right here in the borough, though the real figure is likely even higher — many residents quietly support a friend, neighbour or family member without ever thinking of themselves as a carer.
Councillor Paul Driscoll, the council's cabinet member for healthy equal lives, spoke warmly of carers as "the backbone of our communities," offering essential support with compassion and dedication, and affirming that every carer's contribution is deeply valued.
For those seeking practical help, the Bridgit Care app — available through the Ealing Carers Hub website — pulls together local information, advice and services in one handy place, making it easier than ever to find support.
Ealing is richer for every single one of its carers, and the hope is that more residents than ever feel empowered to reach out and access the support they so rightly deserve. |
