England football star Chloe Kelly has been awarded an MBE in the King's Birthday Honours in recognition of her outstanding services to football. Kelly grew up in Hanwell and attended Elthorne Park High School, has become one of the most celebrated figures in English football following her pivotal role in the Lionesses' recent successes on the international stage. Kelly etched her name into sporting history when she scored the winning goal in England's dramatic UEFA Women's Euro 2022 final victory over Germany at Wembley, helping secure the nation's first major women's football title. The MBE is the latest honour for the local sporting hero. Earlier this year, Kelly was granted the Freedom of the Borough of Ealing, the highest civic distinction awarded by Ealing Council, in recognition of her achievements and the pride she has brought to the borough. The award highlights Kelly's contribution both on and off the pitch, inspiring a new generation of young footballers across Ealing and beyond. |
