Japanese food around Ealing offers much more than the most familiar ramen and sushi brands. For this Ealing Spotlight discovery, we're mixing long-standing neighbourhood restaurants with smaller independents and one emerging name worth watching.

Momo Japanese Restaurant — Hanger Lane
Momo is one of the more established local discoveries on our list, with a menu that goes well beyond sushi. Alongside sushi and sashimi, you'll find Japanese favourites including tempura, udon and soba noodles, donburi and smaller dishes. Its longevity in the neighbourhood gives Momo something particularly valuable: the feel of a genuine Ealing Japanese institution rather than the latest arrival.

Ajimi Japanese Restaurant — Acton
Ajimi is a family-run Japanese restaurant with an intimate dining room of just 25 seats. The menu moves from sushi and sashimi into ramen, donburi, tempura, udon and soba, giving diners plenty to explore beyond sushi rolls. It's exactly the sort of smaller neighbourhood restaurant that can easily escape the big London restaurant lists but deserves a closer look.

Hikaru Sushi & Donburi — Acton
Hikaru on Old Oak Road is one of our more under-the-radar discoveries, specialising in the combination promised by its name: sushi and donburi. It's a small neighbourhood operation rather than a widely marketed London brand, making it particularly interesting for this series. If bowls of rice topped with Japanese favourites or freshly prepared sushi are your thing, Hikaru is one to investigate.

Mister Miyagi — Ealing
Mister Miyagi on Bond Street is our emerging discovery. Its menu includes Japanese favourites such as ramen, yakisoba, udon, gyoza and katsu alongside a wider selection of Asian dishes. With a much smaller review footprint than Ealing's established Japanese names, this is less about revisiting somewhere everybody already knows and more about putting a newer local restaurant on your radar.

Tonkotsu Ealing — Ealing Broadway
Tonkotsu is the recognisable anchor in our selection and the place to finish if ramen is calling. The restaurant makes its noodles and broths from scratch, with gyoza, katsu curries and sides accompanying the ramen menu. It's considerably more established than our other discoveries, but provides a useful reference point for just how varied Japanese dining around Ealing has become.
