Something wonderful is coming to Ealing Green this month, and every resident is warmly invited to take part. Ealing Council is hosting a brand-new community gathering on Ealing Green to mark Armed Forces Day — the first event of its kind in the borough, shining a spotlight on the incredible work of our armed forces and expressing heartfelt thanks for everything they contribute to local life.
The celebrations kick off on Saturday 29th June at 12.30pm with the raising of the official Armed Forces Day flag, followed by certificate presentations from Deputy Lieutenant Richard Kornicki. St Benedict's School Combined Cadet Force will then treat the crowd to a stirring drumming performance. Cadet groups will also be running stalls in front of Pitzhanger Manor, where visitors can watch — and even have a go at — some of the impressive skills the young cadets have mastered.
Whether you're a current or former service member, a family supporter, or simply a curious neighbour, everyone is welcome to come along. Over in Greenford, the Royal British Legion branch is also celebrating from 1pm to 6pm on Oldfield Lane South, with free admission, a barbecue, raffle, bouncy castle, and even a military-themed fancy dress competition.
It promises to be a truly memorable weekend for Ealing, and a fitting moment to honour those who serve and have served our community so faithfully.
